About Mark

I have been a pianist for most of my life. It is my passion, pure and simple. It provides me the animating element of my faith in Jesus Christ by which I share the talent God gave me. My music is the foundation of my ministry to encourage others to discover and follow their God-given purpose and dreams. For almost twenty years, I have performed inspirational concerts everywhere from churches to concert halls to private homes.

I was born in Columbus, Ohio, and began piano lessons at the age of eight while growing up there. My commitment to piano was about what you would expect for a child. I stuck to it for a while and got bored, finally quitting when my parents allowed. But God’s hand was on me and after a year or two I missed it enough to get back on the horse. Or, bench, in this case. I went through a few teachers during my teens until, early in high school, I was blessed with the opportunity to study under a proper instructor. My studies in high school mark the turning point in my career as a musician, my skills advancing with many, many hours of hard work. By college, I decided to make piano and music my course of study and continued my training with a Julliard graduate at The Ohio State University. I continued studying well after I graduated, and expanded my studies into popular, inspiration, and jazz piano, along with arranging and composing in my twenties and thirties.

Today, I am a piano instructor in Longwood, Florida.  I am also the Director of Music, Media, and Drama at First United Methodist Church in Sanford, Florida. I perform concerts in a wide range of venues each year around Florida and nationwide.  I have also continued to record and sell my music on albums as well as electronic paths such as mp3 downloads and sheet music.

I have been married for 21 years to Cheryl, and we have two teenage daughters, Kristen and Rebecca.
